About Healing Your Trauma & Increasing Emotional Intelligence
Isabella Imani shares her incredible story on this episode. She walked away from a very masculine-energy, high-profile career because she felt it didn’t serve her true calling. But to get there, she has to heal her past traumas.
Trauma impacts almost every part of our lives. We need to be very clear here, as well, that you don’t need to experience big T Trauma (assault, abuse, etc) that little t trauma is valid and impactful in your life. Holding onto trauma keeps you in old thought patterns and behaviour, repeating negative experiences.
Isabella encourages us to spend time sitting with our trauma and triggers to figure out where they come from. Exploring this part of our past helps us clear the blockages and move forward in a much healthier way.
We also talk about generational trauma. Isabella explains how hugely traumatic events, for example, The Holocaust, actually (and scientifically) changed the DNA of those who lived through it and impact future generations. You can decide that the trauma stops with you; such a powerful thought and one that you can achieve by doing the hard work.
Finally, we talk about trauma bonding. We especially notice this when we’re seeking a potential partner and notice behaviour patterns come up again and again with the type of men we’re attracted to. Working through your trauma bonding is something else that Isabella talks us through starting to break.
Where do you notice your traumas and past experiences impact your current day-to-day life? In what ways are you working through these? Let me know in the comments, lovely!
